Miranda! is an Argentine electropop band that emerged from Buenos Aires in 2001. The original lineup consisted of Alejandro Sergi (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Juliana Gattas (lead vocals), Leandro Fuentes (guitar), Bruno de Vincenti (programming), and Nicolás Grimaldi (bass). Over time, the group has evolved into a duo featuring Sergi and Gattas.

Known for their eclectic sound that blends electropop, pop rock, synthpop, indie pop, and house music, Miranda! has achieved considerable success across Latin America, Spain, and the United States. The band has garnered numerous awards, including two Latin Grammy nominations, one MTV Europe Music Award, twenty MTV Video Music Awards Latinoamérica, eight Premios Gardel, one Los 40 Music Award, and multiple recognitions at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival.

History
2000–2003: Formation and Early Years

Before forming Miranda!, Alejandro Sergi, Juliana Gattas, and Gori Leva were part of a trio called Los 3 Lirios, known for their electronic interpretations of jazz songs. The trio performed at venues like Cemento, where Sergi wrote "Imán," a track that received positive feedback and led to the formation of Miranda!. In 2001, the band officially came together with Sergi, Gattas, Fuentes, and de Vincenti, branding their style as melodramatic electropop. The band was named after Argentine actor Osvaldo Miranda, whom they met in 2002 during the Buen Dia Arriba Festival in Palermo.

Miranda! quickly gained popularity within Buenos Aires' underground music scene, recognized for their distinctive music, style, and theatrical live performances. Their debut album, Es Mentira, was released in November 2002, featuring singles like "Bailarina," "Imán," and "Tu Juego." The album was well-received, establishing them as a standout act in the Buenos Aires indie-electronic scene.

2004–2006: Breakthrough with Sin Restricciones

Miranda!'s second album, Sin Restricciones, released in 2004, marked the band's mainstream breakthrough. Hits like "Yo Te Diré" and "Don" became immensely popular, with "Don" even becoming one of the most downloaded ringtones globally by 2005. The album was produced by Eduardo Schmidt and Pablo Romero and was a commercial success, achieving Platinum status in Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico.

The band's success continued with seven MTV Video Music Awards Latinoamérica nominations between 2004 and 2005, winning two categories: Best Alternative Artist and Best Artist—South. Their live performances, including a notable concert at the Gran Rex theater in Buenos Aires, further solidified their status in the Latin music scene.

2007–2008: El Disco de Tu Corazón and Continued Success

In 2007, after the departure of programmer Bruno de Vincenti, Miranda! released their third studio album, El Disco de Tu Corazón. The album featured collaborations with artists like Julieta Venegas and Fangoria and produced hits like "Prisionero" and "Perfecta." The album topped the Argentine charts and earned the band a Latin Grammy nomination.

Following the release of El Disco de Tu Corazón + Vivo, a live album, Miranda! released their first compilation album, El Templo del Pop, in 2008. The compilation was a commercial success, achieving Gold certification in Spain.

2009–2012: Miranda Es Imposible! and Magistral

Miranda! continued to build on their success with the release of Miranda Es Imposible! in 2009 and Magistral in 2011. The latter marked the band's tenth anniversary and was produced by Cachorro López. Both albums were well-received, with Magistral charting in Spain and Mexico. The band also gained further recognition, winning the Best Pop Group Album award at the Premios Gardel in 2010.

During this period, the band members also explored other projects. Juliana Gattas and Alejandro Sergi served as coaches on the talent show La Voz Argentina, and Sergi collaborated with Marcelo Moura on the album Choque.

2013–2016: Safari and Evolution

In 2014, Miranda! released Safari, their sixth studio album, after the departure of guitarist Leandro Fuentes. The album included collaborations with artists like Fangoria and was nominated for several awards, including the Premios Gardel for Album of the Year.

The band's live performances remained a key part of their success, with notable appearances at the Personal Fest festival in 2015. During this time, band members also pursued side projects, with Sergi forming the group Meteoros.

2016–2018: Fuerte and Continued Innovation

In 2017, Miranda! released Fuerte, their first album under the Sony Music label. The album featured collaborations with artists like Natalia Oreiro and Jesús Navarro and earned the band their second Latin Grammy nomination. The album was supported by a successful tour in Spain, marking the band's first solo tour in the country.

2019–2021: Precoz and Souvenir

Miranda! released the EP Precoz in 2019, followed by their eighth studio album, Souvenir, in 2021. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the band continued to release new music, including the theme song for the Netflix series Casi Feliz. Both Precoz and Souvenir won the Best Pop Group Album category at the Premios Gardel.

2022–Present: Hotel Miranda! and Ongoing Success

In 2023, Miranda! released their first remix album, Hotel Miranda!, featuring new versions of their classic songs in collaboration with various artists. The album's singles, including "Don" with Ca7riel and "Yo Te Diré" with Lali Espósito, achieved success on the Argentine charts.
