Bubbling Boiling Music & Arts Festival has announced the complete line-up for its Jiaxing 2026 edition, bringing another sizeable international alternative and independent music bill to China. The festival will take place on October 3 and 4, 2026 at Zuili Lake Park in Jiaxing Science and Technology City, in Zhejiang province, with 28 acts performing across three stages.
The announcement follows the festival's three-day Tianjin edition held earlier this year, which featured artists including Black Country, New Road, English Teacher, Motorama and Sea Power. For its autumn event, Bubbling Boiling moves to the Yangtze River Delta region, within easy reach of Shanghai and Hangzhou, while maintaining the mixture of international touring artists and Chinese and Taiwanese acts that has become central to its identity.
This time the international contingent is particularly strong. Alvvays, King Krule, Sudan Archives, Dry Cleaning, The Notwist, Anna von Hausswolff, Youth Lagoon, PREP, Frost Children, Lyn Lapid and McKinley Dixon are all included in the programme, alongside an extensive selection of artists from China's independent and alternative scenes.

The first day, Saturday, October 3, will be divided between the BUZZ, SOSO and See U stages. The main BUZZ Stage will feature Taiwanese singer-songwriter Deserts Chang (安溥) alongside Sudan Archives, Frost Children, Swedish singer and composer Anna von Hausswolff and Filipino-American singer-songwriter Lyn Lapid.
The SOSO Stage offers another particularly interesting combination of international and Chinese-language artists. Taiwanese singer-songwriter and producer Sandee Chan (陈珊妮) appears alongside American indie artist Youth Lagoon and jazz-influenced rapper McKinley Dixon, with Chinese writer and media personality Jiang Sida also included on the bill.
A third programme on the See U Stage completes the opening day with Zhuang Dafei, Qin Fanqi, THE EITHER, Fan Fan and Chainhaha. Together, the three stages give the first day a broad musical range extending from experimental composition and art pop to hip-hop, indie rock and contemporary Chinese music.
Alvvays and King Krule lead day two
The second day, Sunday, October 4, brings two of the festival's most prominent international names to the BUZZ Stage. Canadian indie band Alvvays and British musician King Krule will perform alongside Chinese singer-songwriter Liang Bo, British indie-pop group PREP and Pu Poo Platter.
The SOSO Stage has an equally distinctive alternative programme. Chinese post-rock veterans Wang Wen (惘闻) will perform with a string orchestra, while FAZI will present a special collaboration with electronic artist Long Arm, billed as a Bubbling Boiling premiere. British post-punk band Dry Cleaning and Yufu complete the stage's announced line-up.
German indie and experimental veterans The Notwist are among the highlights of the See U Stage, which will also feature Fayzz, Summer Fades Away, SinceTMRW and Chen Mo Cheng. The combination makes October 4 particularly dense for fans of indie rock, post-rock and more experimental sounds, moving from Alvvays' melodic guitar pop and King Krule's idiosyncratic songwriting to Wang Wen's expansive instrumentals and The Notwist's electronic experimentation.
A growing international festival series in China
The Jiaxing announcement further establishes Bubbling Boiling as a festival capable of bringing substantial international alternative line-ups to different parts of China. Rather than concentrating solely on globally established headliners, its 2026 programmes have placed overseas artists alongside Chinese acts across the same stages, with experimental music, post-rock and independent pop occupying unusually prominent positions.
That approach was already apparent at the Tianjin edition in May, where Black Country, New Road appeared alongside Omnipotent Youth Society, Miserable Faith and Escape Plan, and it continues in Jiaxing with artists such as Alvvays, King Krule and Dry Cleaning sharing the programme with Liang Bo, Wang Wen, FAZI and Deserts Chang.
The location also gives the new edition a different geographical focus. Jiaxing lies in Zhejiang province between Shanghai and Hangzhou, placing the festival in one of China's largest urban regions and explaining its promotion as the Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai edition of Bubbling Boiling.
