China’s CAN Festival will return from October 16 to 18, 2026, with its second edition of the year moving to the Wenzhou area in Zhejiang province. The event, billed as CAN Festival 2026 PT.2, is set to take place at the Nanxi River Beach Music Park in Yongjia County, a new setting for a festival strongly associated with post-rock, atmospheric music and the international alternative scene.
The line-up brings together artists from China, Europe, North America and Asia. Among its biggest names are British jazz group Ezra Collective, Chinese post-rock veterans Wang Wen, Madrid instrumental rock band Toundra, French quartet Totorro, Austrian post-black metal group Harakiri for the Sky and Singapore’s Paint the Sky Red.
There is also a notable Spanish presence, including SOTABOSC, from Catalonia, alongside Toundra and Our Last Hope Lost Hope. The wider international programme features All Shall Be Well from the Netherlands, If Anything Happens to the Cat from Belgium, Sweden’s Our Last Hope Lost Hope, UK acts L.O.E. and I Spell It Nature, and American projects including Sadness, Saidan, The Color of Cyan, Thought Trials and Always the Runner.
Chinese bands are also central to the programme, with Wang Wen joined by DeadTrees, Dopamine, DeepSleep and ShallowEnd, among others. The resulting bill moves freely between instrumental post-rock, post-metal, black metal, experimental rock and jazz, continuing CAN Festival’s unusually broad approach to underground and independent music.
The Wenzhou edition also marks a geographical change for the festival. Previous CAN Festival events have been associated with the coastal setting of Zhujiajian in Zhoushan, while the October edition heads inland to the Nanxi River valley, surrounded by mountains and forest. The relocation gives the festival a markedly different setting while retaining the international focus that has become one of its defining characteristics.
With more artists still to be announced, CAN Festival 2026 PT.2 will bring three days of international alternative music to Wenzhou from October 16 to 18, with Toundra and SOTABOSC adding a particularly interesting Iberian connection to one of China’s most distinctive post-rock-oriented festival line-ups.
